Baznas and Ministry of Religious Affairs coordinate on data integration and law revision

The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) is working with the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs to integrate beneficiary data between the Baznas Management Information System (Simba) and the National Social and Economic Single Data (DTSEN). This initiative aims to increase accountability, improve data validity, and minimize the duplication of aid distribution across Indonesia.

In a separate effort to strengthen the sector, Baznas held a focus group discussion in Jakarta to discuss revisions to Law Number 23 of 2011 concerning Zakat Management. The discussion involved stakeholders including the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform. The proposed legislative changes seek to adapt to institutional developments, enhance accountability, and ensure that zakat collection and distribution are more efficient and legally protected.
