Baznas East Java provides free eyeglasses to 1,000 teachers

The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of East Java and the provincial government have provided free prescription eyeglasses to 1,000 kindergarten (TK) and Al-Quran education (TPQ) teachers. The initiative was held at the Islamic Center in Surabaya as part of the 81st anniversary celebrations of East Java.

Muhammad Ghofirin, Head of Baznas East Java, stated that the program targets these specific educators because their welfare requires more attention. Recipients underwent eye examinations and were permitted to choose their own frames. The glasses will be produced and distributed through the teachers' respective schools, a process expected to take at least two weeks. Those requiring further medical attention will be referred to appropriate health facilities.

East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa praised the collaboration, describing the program as a comprehensive approach aligned with the Human Development Index. Baznas expressed intentions to expand this initiative to other regencies and cities through collaboration with local Baznas branches.
