ÖBB expands technical training capacity in Graz

The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) has officially inaugurated expanded training facilities in Graz to address the growing demand for technical specialists. The company invested 1.7 million euros to increase the training area by 640 square meters, allowing for 20 additional apprentices to be admitted to technical operations annually.

As of September 7, 2026, ÖBB has 2,421 apprentices in training, with 721 new trainees starting in the current month alone. Despite a general market trend of unfilled apprenticeship positions, the company received approximately 10,000 applications for the current training year, highlighting its attractiveness as an employer amidst a tightening labor market.
