ÖBB to repurchase Wien Mitte station complex in Vienna
The Supervisory Board of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG has approved the repurchase of the Wien Mitte station complex in Vienna. This transaction marks the return of the major transport hub to the railway company’s portfolio after more than 20 years.
The acquisition, from a consortium led by Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing, includes the station, The Mall shopping centre, and surrounding office spaces. While the transaction value remains undisclosed, the deal is expected to be finalized by the end of December 2026, pending competition authority approval.
By owning both the railway infrastructure and the integrated buildings, ÖBB aims to manage the site from a single perspective. This unified control is intended to provide greater flexibility for passenger guidance, technical installations, and access points at a hub that serves approximately 75,000 people daily.
