B&B Vol Liefde sees contestant controversy and veteran Jiry's PTSD story

During a recent episode of the Dutch reality series B&B Vol Liefde, contestant Edwin faced viewer backlash after asking host Iris whether she was "knutselen" (crafting) while she was working on her art. Viewers on X criticised the remark as disrespectful and said Edwin failed to empathise with Iris’s emotional moment involving her late son’s belongings.

In the same episode, newcomer Jiry, a former Dutch soldier who previously appeared in the 2022 documentary "Gewond maar niet verslagen," shared his experiences with PTSD and moral injury from deployments in Bosnia and Afghanistan. His backstory, including loss of marriage, home and employment, was highlighted as he seeks a new start on the show.

Both storylines have sparked discussion among the audience about sensitivity, personal trauma and the dynamics between contestants and the host.
