BBC accused of political bias in Bitesize education content

The BBC is facing accusations of political bias following reports regarding its education platform, BBC Bitesize. An investigation suggests the platform uses a Roblox-hosted game titled ‘Increasing Immigration’ to encourage specific views on migration among students aged 11 to 14.

In the game, players receive economic and public health points for choosing ‘open borders’ or granting amnesty to migrants, while choosing to deport individuals without proper visas results in point penalties. The platform also includes content suggesting that concerns regarding migrants taking local jobs may arise from ‘prejudice’ and emphasizes the economic benefits of migration.

Critics, including MP Nick Timothy, have characterized the content as ‘indoctrination.’ The controversy arrives as the BBC faces scrutiny regarding its charter renewal, with Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy expected to publish a White Paper on the matter by the end of the year. BBC Director General Matt Brittin has previously pledged to address bias through new monitoring technologies.
