BBC acquires Australian comedy‑drama series ‘He Had It Coming’

The British Broadcasting Corporation has secured the rights to the eight‑part Australian comedy‑crime drama He Had It Coming. The series, created by Gretel Vella and Craig Anderson, stars Lydia West as British scholarship student Elise, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as influencer Barbara, and Cody Simpson as the university’s star athlete. After the two women deface a statue of the university’s male founder, they awaken to find the athlete murdered at the foot of the statue and must clear their names while Detective Shepherd (Liv Hewson) pursues the case.

He Had It Coming originally aired on the Australian streaming platform Stan in 2025 and received positive viewer feedback. It will debut on BBC iPlayer and be broadcast on BBC Three from mid‑August 2026. BBC programme acquisition head Nick Lee described the series as “a fun, pacey campus whodunnit with a vibrant poke at gender politics.”
