BBC and BritBox's Hercule Poirot Prequel Series Cast Announced

The BBC and BritBox are preparing a six‑part prequel series titled Hercule, chronicling how Agatha Christie’s detective Hercule Poirot became the world’s greatest sleuth. Edward Bluemel has been cast as the young Poirot, joined by a supporting cast that includes Henry Ashton, James D’Arcy, Calvin Demba, Phil Dunning, Jack Gleeson, Tamsin Greig, James Nesbitt, Guy Remmers, Rebecca Rittenhouse and Mawaan Rizwan.

Production will be led by Mammoth Screen, a part of ITV Studios, in partnership with Agatha Christie Limited. The series is written by Benji Walters and directed in three blocks by Jonny Campbell, Chanya Button and Alrick Riley, with Charlie Palmer serving as series producer. Filming is set to begin in Liverpool, and the show will portray an intimate study of Poirot against the backdrop of Britain between the world wars. Fifth Season will handle global distribution, and the series is slated for release on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK and on BritBox in North America in 2027.
