Strictly Come Dancing returns with new hosts and celebrity lineup

The BBC's Strictly Come Dancing has returned for its 22nd series with a refreshed format and new presenting lineup. Following the departures of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, the show is now hosted by a trio consisting of Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe. While the new dynamic has received mixed reviews, Widdicombe has defended the change against criticism regarding the launch.

The 2026 series features 15 celebrity contestants paired with professional dancers, including actor Lacey Turner, singer Delta Goodrem, and Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey. Turner has described the training process as “the hardest thing” she has ever done. Former professional dancer Brendan Cole expressed skepticism regarding the recognizability of this year's cast, though others noted the show's enduring format.

In addition to the main competition, the BBC announced a new spin-off titled “Strictly: Lights Up.” Hosted by comedian Abi Clarke and former contestant Tyler West, the program will air on Sunday evenings to provide behind-the-scenes access and immediate reactions following the weekly results show.
