BBC denies Match of the Day pundit exodus rumors

The BBC has denied reports of internal tension and a potential exodus of high-profile pundits from its flagship football programme, Match of the Day, ahead of the new Premier League season. The broadcaster dismissed claims that staff have clashed with Director of Sport Alex Kay-Jelski over organizational changes or that lucrative external opportunities would lead to a mass departure.

For the upcoming season, the BBC announced that four new pundits will join the rotating cast: Thomas Frank, Ashley Young, Toby Alderweireld, and Robbie Keane. They join an established roster that includes Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney. The presenting lineup of Gabby Logan, Mark Chapman, and Kelly Cates will continue in their second season following the departure of Gary Lineker.

Additionally, the BBC confirmed that the long-running Saturday lunchtime programme Football Focus has been axed after 52 years. It will be replaced by The Football Interview, featuring Kelly Somers.
