BBC One launches thriller series 'The Rapture' starring Ruth Madeley
The five‑part series "The Rapture", adapted from Liz Jensen’s bestselling novel, debuted on BBC One on Sunday 26 July at 9 p.m. Produced by Mammoth Screen for ITV Studios and filmed in Wales, the high‑stakes thriller is set during a heatwave and follows forensic psychologist Gabs Fox (Ruth Madeley) as she begins work at a high‑security psychiatric hospital. There she meets 17‑year‑old patient Bethany Krall (India Amarteifio), convicted of murdering her mother but claiming innocence and possessing psychic abilities that may predict the future.
The cast also includes Sam Hazeldine, Stephen Campbell Moore, Lisa Palfrey and others. The series combines elements of suspense, supernatural speculation and social commentary, and marks a notable entry in the UK’s autumn television lineup.
