BBC Radio presenter Tony Livesey departs after David Sullivan allegations

Tony Livesey, a 62‑year‑old broadcaster who presented BBC Radio 5 Live’s late‑night show for 16 years, has left the BBC following a Panorama investigation that highlighted allegations against newspaper owner David Sullivan. Livesey, formerly editor‑in‑chief of Sullivan’s Daily Sport and Sunday Sport titles, said he had no recollection of arranging a meeting between a woman and Sullivan and that such introductions were not part of his role.

The investigation aired accusations that Sullivan, a billionaire co‑owner of West Ham United, engaged in sexually exploitative behaviour toward women over several decades. Sullivan has denied the claims and resigned as a director and co‑chair of West Ham United in early June. The BBC did not comment on the investigation’s conclusions.

BBC Radio 5 Live controller Heidi Dawson announced Livesey’s departure, thanking him for his long service and wishing him well in future endeavours.
