BBC recommissions LGBTQ+ comedy Smoggie Queens for season 3

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has confirmed a third season of the LGBTQ+ comedy series Smoggie Queens. The show, created and starring writer Phil Dunning, is set in Middlesbrough and follows a chosen family of queer friends, allies and drag queens. Characters such as Dickie (Phil Dunning), Mam (Mark Benton), Lucinda (Alexandra Mardell), Sal (Patsy Lowe) and Stewart (Elijah Young) return, with additional cameo appearances expected.

The series, which debuted its second season earlier this year, has been praised for its sharp humor and heartfelt moments. Dunning said, “¡Qué alegría que se vuelva a poner en servicio para la serie 3! ¡Gracias BBC!” while BBC editor Gregor Sharp called the recommission “a testament to the brilliance of Phil Dunning and the creative team, and a unique place in British comedy.”
