BBC removes controversial content from Bitesize website

The BBC has begun removing material from its Bitesize educational website following allegations that the platform promoted biased views on migration and Net Zero. The content, which is used by approximately 1.7 million pupils weekly, reportedly included an online game that rewarded players for choosing “open borders” policies and suggested that concerns regarding migrants taking local jobs were “prejudiced.”

In addition to the migration-related content, the BBC removed a page that featured progressive political figures, such as climate activist Greta Thunberg. Following an investigation into these materials, senior BBC executives ordered a review, replacing the contested sections with notices stating the content is “currently under review” to ensure it remains in line with the curriculum.

Shadow Education Secretary Laura Trott has formally written to BBC Director-General Matt Brittin, urging the corporation to suspend any material that fails to meet its impartiality standards. The controversy also involved resources that encouraged children to join Amnesty International.
