BBC series Gone Fishing returns with ninth series

The BBC comedy series Gone Fishing, starring Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse, is set to return for its ninth series on 25 October. The new season will be available on BBC iPlayer and BBC Two.

The opening episode features a farewell to the show’s canine companion, Ted, at the River Ribble in Lancashire. Mortimer and Whitehouse noted that Ted passed away shortly after filming, making the episode a final appearance for the dog.

Other locations featured in the upcoming series include Northern Ireland, the River Tees, and the Shetland archipelago in Scotland. The Shetland episode, titled ‘Trout and Pollock’, was filmed at locations such as Scalloway and Minn Beach in Burra. The series will also include a guest appearance by actor Reece Shearsmith.
