BBC Studios acquires international rights to 3Cat’s ‘La gran cita’

BBC Studios has acquired the exclusive international adaptation rights for ‘La gran cita’, an entertainment format produced by 3Cat and Incís TV. This agreement marks a historic milestone for the Catalan audiovisual industry, as it is the first time BBC Studios has acquired a format created by a Spanish broadcaster that was originally developed in Catalan.

The dating show, hosted by influencer Aida Domènech (known as Dulceida), combines reality, emotion, and technology. Since its premiere on April 20, the program has achieved significant digital success, accumulating over 1.5 million views on 3Cat’s digital platforms and more than 20 million views across social media.

Under the agreement, BBC Studios will distribute, develop, and produce adaptations of the format for various international markets. The deal is part of 3Cat’s strategy to expand the global commercialization of its content. ‘La gran cita’ is scheduled to be one of the four formats presented by BBC Studios at MIPCOM.
