BBC Studios announces worldwide cinema event for Doctor Who

BBC Studios has announced a one-night-only theatrical event featuring ‘Doctor Who: The Satan Pit Extended Cut’ on November 23, 2026. The screening will take place in over 1,000 cinemas across the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

The film is a newly edited, movie-length version of the 2006 two-part story ‘The Impossible Planet’ and ‘The Satan Pit,’ starring David Tennant and Billie Piper. This extended cut restores previously deleted scenes and includes never-before-seen footage. The event also features an exclusive interview with director James Strong regarding the production.

The release coincides with ‘Doctor Who Day,’ marking the anniversary of the show’s first broadcast in 1963, and celebrates 20 years since the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler era began. Tickets for the U.S. will be available through Fathom Entertainment, while international fans can access tickets via doctorwhoincinemas.com.
