BBC Studios launches Creator Lab Australia for YouTube creators

BBC Studios has launched Creator Lab Australia, a development program designed to help Australian YouTube creators transform digital ideas into established content businesses. Supported by SBS and delivered in partnership with Changer Studios and BBC Studios TalentWorks, the initiative provides creators access to premium production expertise and intellectual property from both the BBC Studios global catalogue and SBS-owned IP.

The program consists of two distinct stages. It begins with ‘The Sprint,’ a two-day intensive masterclass held in Sydney in September 2026, covering topics such as audience development, content strategy, and long-form storytelling. Participants who progress will enter ‘The Accelerator,’ an eight-week hybrid program running through October and November 2026, which offers one-on-one mentoring and workshops focused on multi-platform growth and building globally relevant IP.

To be eligible, applicants must be over 18, based in Australia with the right to work, and meet specific viewership metrics: either more than 50,000 YouTube followers or at least two videos with over 100,000 views. The program aims to bridge the gap between social media audience connection and long-term professional growth within the creator economy.
