BBC Studios launches Creator Lab Australia for YouTube creators
BBC Studios has launched the inaugural Creator Lab Australia in Sydney, selecting 18 YouTube creators for the program. Supported by SBS and Screen NSW, the initiative is delivered in partnership with Changer Studios and BBC Studios TalentWorks.
The program aims to bridge the gap between digital-first creators and the traditional screen industry by combining the originality and existing audiences of online creators with the production expertise and international reach of BBC Studios. Participants engage in intensive workshops and masterclasses covering topics such as scaling channels, content development, audience engagement, and building sustainable, globally relevant intellectual property.
Industry experts, including Georgia Mappin of Haven’t You Done Well Productions and Matt Apps, a showrunner for Beast Games, are contributing to the sessions. Following the initial workshops, selected cohort members will receive one-on-one mentoring to help transition their digital brands into larger formats and franchises.
