BBC Symphony Orchestra horn player Martin Owen performs in Plovdiv

Martin Owen, a world-renowned horn player from the BBC Symphony Orchestra, is performing in Plovdiv as a soloist with the Plovdiv Opera at the Boris Hristov House of Culture. Under the direction of conductor Evgeni Shevkenov, Owen will perform works by Mozart.

Owen shares a deep personal connection to Bulgaria, noting that his family traveled from London to visit his grandmother, Kristina Bartlett, who lived in Sofia and taught English starting in the 1950s. His grandmother also appeared in the cult Bulgarian film ‘Yesterday’.

In addition to his concert performance, Owen is conducting masterclasses for young musical talents across the country, with a final concert scheduled for October 18 at the Academy of Music, Dance, and Fine Arts.
