BBC to produce documentary on controversial 2007 F1 season

The BBC is preparing a documentary focused on the controversial 2007 Formula 1 World Championship season. The production aims to examine the intense rivalry between McLaren teammates Fernando Alonso and rookie Lewis Hamilton, as well as the ‘Spygate’ scandal that resulted in McLaren being stripped of the Constructors’ title.

Antonio Lobato, a prominent Spanish Formula 1 commentator during that era, revealed that he was approached to participate in the project but declined. Lobato stated that he does not wish to get involved in those stories, noting that while the events will certainly be told by other journalists, he prefers to wait and see how the BBC treats the history of that season.
