BBC's 'Ludwig' Season 2 Set to Premiere in August
The BBC’s detective comedy series Ludwig returns for a second series on Thursday 20 August at 9 p.m. on BBC One. The six‑episode season continues the story of puzzle‑maker John “Ludwig” Taylor (David Mitchell), now working as a Crime Scene Consultant for the Cambridge Police Authority, while his twin brother remains missing.
Series 2 adds regular cast members Mark Bonnar as newspaper editor Gareth Fisher and Sian Clifford as local MP Joanne Kemper, alongside returning stars Anna Maxwell Martin, Dipo Ola, Dorothy Atkinson, Ralph Ineson and Karl Pilkington. It is produced by Big Talk Studios in association with That Mitchell and Webb Company, co‑produced with BritBox and Germany’s ZDF.
The first series attracted 9.5 million viewers within 28 days, making it the BBC’s biggest new scripted series since 2022. A teaser for season 2 has been released, and BritBox has confirmed a later‑year streaming launch for audiences outside the UK.
