OPPO to Consolidate OnePlus and Realme Software onto ColorOS
Industry insiders report that OPPO plans to retire the separate Android skins OxygenOS (used by OnePlus) and Realme UI, merging both brands onto a single ColorOS platform. The move aims to cut research‑and‑development costs and streamline software updates across the group’s smartphone lineup.
The restructuring also includes a market‑focus shift: OnePlus is expected to concentrate on India and China, while Realme would scale back its presence in China and target international markets. Recent signals support the rumor – OnePlus Germany has begun directing customers to Oppo devices, the UK OnePlus catalogue is largely out of stock, and in India the after‑sales service for OnePlus is already handled by Oppo service centres.
If implemented, new OnePlus and Realme devices would ship with ColorOS out of the box, and existing phones would receive gradual updates to the new software. Neither OPPO, OnePlus nor Realme have officially confirmed the plan.
