BBVA launches $50,000 Leonardo scholarships in Argentina

The BBVA Foundation announced the debut of its Leonardo scholarship programme in Argentina, offering five individual grants of up to US$50,000 each. The awards target researchers and artists aged 30 to 45, requiring projects that are innovative and linked to one of the selected fields: Computer Science, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Clean Technology and Biodiversity, or Literary and Performing Arts. Recipients must complete their projects within 12 to 18 months, using the funds for equipment, materials, mobility, collaborations, editing and other justified expenses.

Camila Staffora, BBVA’s senior manager for Responsible Business in Argentina, highlighted the bank’s commitment to knowledge as a driver of social and cultural progress and emphasized support for Argentine talent at a decisive stage of their careers. The programme, already active in Colombia, Mexico and Peru, expands BBVA’s regional effort to foster original ideas at the intersection of art and science.
