BBVA launches AI hub in Bilbao and implements new MLOps architecture

BBVA has launched the ‘BBVA Bilbao AI Transformation Hub’ in Bilbao, Spain, to coordinate more than 150 professionals specializing in data, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence. The center aims to attract local technological talent and integrate AI capabilities across the entire organization. BBVA President Carlos Torres Vila stated that the goal is to systematize the use of technology at scale to redefine how the bank operates and interacts with clients.

In parallel, BBVA has collaborated with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop a new MLOps architecture integrated into its global data and AI platform, ADA. This new architecture is designed to industrialize the lifecycle of machine learning models, from development and validation to production deployment. In four pilot initiatives, the solution has reportedly reduced development times by up to 75% and lowered costs by between 40% and 55%. The architecture utilizes technologies such as Amazon SageMaker AI and AWS Lambda to automate workflows while maintaining security and governance standards.
