BBVA launches new securities firm in Japan

BBVA has received regulatory authorization to launch BBVA Japan Securities Limited, a new subsidiary designed to connect Japanese institutional investors with the bank’s global financial offerings. The firm obtained registration from the Japan Financial Services Agency (JFSA) and the Kanto Local Finance Bureau (KLFB) to conduct Type I Financial Instruments Business, and has since joined the Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA).

The new entity will function as a local sales and middle office platform, acting as a bridge between Japanese capital and investment opportunities in markets where BBVA maintains a strong presence, specifically Spain, Mexico, and the United States. By providing a regulated, local point of contact, the subsidiary aims to simplify operational processes and allow Japanese clients to access structured credit products and international investment solutions more efficiently.

Yuko Kamiya, President of BBVA Japan Securities Limited, stated that the goal is to create a high-value-added bridge that connects Japanese capital to the group’s global product platform, offering increased agility and proximity to clients.
