BBVA Mexico and Banamex appoint new board chairs

BBVA Mexico and Banamex announced simultaneous changes to the leadership of their boards of directors. Ignacio “Nacho” Deschamps, who had overseen Banamex’s corporate governance after its split from Citi, concluded his tenure. Fernando Chico Pardo was named to assume the presidency of Banamex’s Board of Directors, joining the role of president of the Grupo Financiero Banamex.

At BBVA Mexico, long‑time board chair Jaime Serra Puche stepped down after 19 years on the board and eight years leading the board, triggering a board renewal that will still require regulatory approval before a new chair is confirmed.
