B.C. Greens announce transportation plan with free transit for youth and seniors

The B.C. Greens have unveiled a new transportation platform for British Columbia. A central component of the plan is the introduction of free transit passes for seniors aged 65 and older and youth under the age of 25.

Party leader Emily Lowan stated that the platform aims to provide stable funding to ensure fast and frequent service across communities. The proposal includes boosting bus services, expanding infrastructure, and developing passenger rail corridors.

Additionally, the party plans to increase funding for ferry services and work with the federal government to achieve funding parity with Atlantic Canada. The plan also involves expanding terminal and dock infrastructure, including the implementation of electric ferries, and a commitment to building and maintaining ships locally to support the regional economy and union jobs.
