Bradley Creek wildfire complex remains held amid property destruction FAST-MOVING
The Bradley Creek wildfire complex, comprising the Bradley Creek and Quilpituk Creek fires, is currently being held by crews despite unsettled weather and gusty winds that pose a risk of spot fires. The Quilpituk Creek fire is estimated at 1,291.9 hectares, while the Bradley Creek fire has grown to approximately 2,647.1 hectares. Suppression efforts include 129 firefighters, 11 helicopters, and 40 pieces of heavy equipment.
Significant destruction has occurred, with Okanagan Indian Band Chief Dan Wilson reporting that at least 230 properties were lost. While some evacuation orders have been partially rescinded, allowing residents in certain areas to return, a water quality advisory remains in effect for the Okanagan Indian Band water system.
Utility crews have been working to restore power; BC Hydro has successfully restored service to thousands of customers near Vernon and Clinton following damage from the fires and windstorms, though some outages persist. Highway 97 remains closed between Kickininee Provincial Park and Peachland.
