BC Law Enforcement Memorial events scheduled for Victoria weekend

The BC Law Enforcement Memorial events are taking place this weekend, featuring a multi-day Run to Remember and a formal memorial service in Victoria. The Run to Remember, which has been held for eight years, involves a 135-kilometre journey from Abbotsford to Victoria to honor fallen officers in British Columbia. On Saturday, September 26, participants will travel from the Swartz Bay BC Ferries terminal toward Victoria via the Lochside and Galloping Goose trails, with a final segment through Vic West toward the B.C. Legislature.

On Sunday, September 27, a memorial service will be held at the B.C. Legislature. The event includes a parade with approximately 450 police and peace officers, starting at 12:40 p.m. on Government Street. The ceremony is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and members of the community are invited to attend.

Victoria Police have advised of potential traffic disruptions due to these events. Road closures are expected on portions of Wharf and Government streets on Saturday afternoon, and on Government Street on Sunday morning. To manage the events, authorities will deploy temporary CCTV cameras and drones.
