BC Lions move practices to Surrey due to turf issues

The BC Lions have relocated their practice sessions to the synthetic field at Hjorth Road Park in Guildford due to poor turf quality at their Whalley facility. Neil McEvoy, the team’s vice-president of football operations, stated that the turf at Tom Binnie Park is not up to standard and is currently being redone. The team hopes to return to the facility once the new turf is installed, potentially by training camp in April or May of next year.

Despite the change in location, dedicated supporters from the Lion Backers fan club, including co-founder Jenny Brittain and Kathie Currie, continue to follow the team to their various practice sites. The fans frequently provide treats, such as muffins and baked goods, for the players during their weekly visits.
