B.C. Lions to start Kaidon Salter against Winnipeg Blue Bombers

B.C. Lions Winnipeg Blue Bombers CFL playoffs Kaidon Salter Nathan Rourke

The B.C. Lions will start rookie quarterback Kaidon Salter in their regular-season finale against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this Friday at BC Place. Head coach Buck Pierce confirmed that Salter will lead the team while regular starter and reigning CFL outstanding player Nathan Rourke will be rested.

The Lions (10-7) have already secured second place in the West Division, whereas the Blue Bombers (8-9) require a victory to secure a post-season berth. Salter, who previously led the Lions to a victory over Winnipeg in July, is expected to share playing time with Chris Oladokun, a former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback.

The outcome of the game carries significant playoff implications for the West Division. A Lions victory would eliminate Winnipeg from playoff contention. If Winnipeg wins, the final seeding for the third-place West spot and the Toronto-bound crossover team will depend on the results of the Saskatchewan and Edmonton matchup.
