Bắc Ninh to create 5,000‑ha free‑trade zone linked to Gia Bình airport

The Bắc Ninh Provincial People's Council approved an amendment to the 2021‑2030 provincial plan, directing the creation of a 5,000‑hectare free‑trade zone attached to Gia Bình International Airport.

The province aims to become a centrally‑run city before 2030, targeting average GRDP growth of 11‑13% per year (2026‑2030), per‑capita GRDP of US$9.2‑10 000 by 2030, and average monthly income of about 7.84 million VND. It also pledges to eliminate multidimensional poverty by the end of 2027.

Key infrastructure projects include the new airport, Belt 4 and Belt 5 expressways, railway connections (Lào Cai‑Hanoi‑Hai Phong line, high‑speed Hanoi‑Quảng Ninh line, and urban rail network), and the expansion to 66 industrial parks covering nearly 19,800 ha, with plans for 23 additional parks after 2030.

A separate 10,000‑ha specialized economic zone is planned for the Kep and Lang Giang area, focusing on high‑tech manufacturing, logistics, commerce, education, health services, and eco‑tourism.
