BC SPCA Survey Sets Animal Welfare Priorities for 2026 Election

The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) has launched a province‑wide survey that will remain open until August 7. The questionnaire asks residents to identify the animal‑control issues they consider most important, with the aim of shaping the organization’s advocacy during the upcoming 2026 municipal election.

BC SPCA officials say the feedback will help promote evidence‑based animal‑control bylaws that protect animals and improve public health and safety. “It takes a whole community to care for animals,” said Ebony Logins, the SPCA’s local‑government relations officer. The survey coincides with the pre‑campaign period for British Columbia’s municipal elections, where voters will choose mayors, councillors, regional‑district directors and school trustees on Oct. 17.

The organization hopes the results will guide municipalities across the province toward stronger animal‑welfare policies before the election campaign officially begins on Sept. 19.
