BC Supreme Court Upholds Okanagan College Student Suspension

Harsh Verma, an international student at Okanagan College, was suspended for one year after being found guilty of five acts of academic misconduct between March 2024 and November 2025. He appealed the suspension, arguing the original disciplinary process lacked procedural fairness and that he was denied access to evidence.

The British Columbia Supreme Court rejected Verma’s challenge, noting that a new investigation conducted by the college was thorough and confirmed the violations. College President Dr. Neil Fassina affirmed that the suspension, which will remain in effect until January 2027, was warranted. Justice Barbara Young acknowledged Verma’s financial hardship but upheld the court’s decision, refusing to quash the suspension.
