BC Transit offers free rides for cyclists during GoByBike Week in West Kootenay and Victoria

From May 30 to June 5, 2026 BC Transit will provide free bus travel to cyclists as part of the province‑wide GoByBike Week. Riders who place their bicycle on a front‑mounted rack or show a bike helmet when boarding can ride without fare in the West Kootenay region (including the Regional Districts of Central Kootenay and Kootenay Boundary and the City of Nelson) and the Victoria region (served by the Victoria Regional Transit Commission).

All conventional BC Transit buses are equipped with bike racks, though space is limited and allocated on a first‑come, first‑served basis. The promotion is coordinated with GoByBike BC, a charity that encourages cycling for transportation and aims to combine biking with public transit to foster sustainable travel habits.
