BC Transit rolls out new handyDART booking platform in Fraser Valley

BC Transit announced a soft rollout of new technology for its handyDART door‑to‑door transit service in the Chilliwack and Central Fraser Valley regions of British Columbia. The system, developed with Vancouver‑based company Spare, will let riders and caregivers book trips via phone, website or a mobile app, view real‑time bus locations, receive push notifications, and manage reservations 24/7. A digital registration process and on‑board trip mapping are also included to aid operators and improve reliability.

The upgrade does not alter eligibility, service hours or service areas, and riders may still book by phone if they prefer. BC Transit will assess the rollout before extending the tools to the province’s remaining 26 handyDART systems, aiming to provide a more flexible and data‑rich experience for people with disabilities.
