BCASH becomes first licensed crypto‑asset service provider in Greece

Around 200,000 Greeks – about 1.87% of the population – have adopted cryptocurrencies, placing Greece 36th worldwide in crypto penetration, according to BrokerChooser data. The Hellenic Capital Market Commission has begun issuing licences under the EU Markets in Crypto‑Assets (MiCA) framework. BCASH A.E. was the first company approved as a Crypto‑Asset Service Provider (CASP), followed by Xenios Blockchain Group A.E. and Capital Wallet Greece.

The BCASH licence enables the firm to operate across the European Union through the EU passporting mechanism. BCASH offers crypto‑ATM services, a franchise network and proprietary trading‑and‑identification software, and has been active since 2017. Company spokesperson Stefanos Gketsopoulos said the licence “strengthens BCASH’s credibility” and highlighted the growing customer base throughout the EU.

Investors are warned to verify that providers are licensed and to be aware of risks such as price volatility, fraud, mistaken transfers and loss of wallet access. The new regulatory regime aims to increase transparency and consumer protection while the market continues to expand.
