Rohit Yadav banned for two years by BCCI over age discrepancies

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has imposed a two-year ban on Bengal leg-spinner Rohit Yadav following the discovery of significant age discrepancies in his documentation. Yadav, who recently played for the India Under-19 team during a tour of Sri Lanka, was found to have three different birth certificates listing different years of birth, including 2007, 2009, and 2010. Discrepancies were also noted in his Aadhaar records.

As a result of the findings, Yadav has been removed from the Indian Under-19 squad scheduled to play against Australia in Rajkot and Ahmedabad later this month.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has also conducted a broader crackdown, declaring 62 players ineligible for registration or transfer during the 2026-27 and 2027-28 domestic seasons due to documentation and age-related irregularities. This list includes former Under-19 World Cup winner Ravi Kumar, who was flagged for a 45-month age discrepancy.
