BCCI mandates VVS Laxman's presence in men's selection meetings

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that VVS Laxman, the head of cricket at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE), will attend all senior men's national selection committee meetings moving forward.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated that this decision follows a review meeting held in Mumbai. The primary objective is to prevent miscommunication regarding player fitness and injury status between the selectors and the CoE. This measure aims to address previous instances where players were selected for squads only to be withdrawn later due to fitness issues.

Laxman’s presence was noted during a recent selection meeting in Guwahati for upcoming series against New Zealand. While the mandate is established for the senior men's teams, it is currently unconfirmed if the arrangement will extend to senior women's selection meetings.
