BCCI to host IPL 2027 mini-auction in India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced key updates regarding the 2027 cricket auction cycles for both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

The IPL 2027 mini-auction is set to return to India, ending a three-year period where auctions were held in Dubai, Jeddah, and Abu Dhabi. The decision follows concerns from franchises regarding the logistical and operational challenges of hosting mini-auctions overseas. While the 2027 mini-auction will be held domestically, potentially in December, the BCCI noted that the subsequent mega-auction could still be staged abroad.

The WPL 2027 season is scheduled to run from January 14 to February 7, 2027. The player auction for the fifth edition is slated for October 28 in Kochi at the Grand Hyatt. Franchises have until September 28 to finalize their player retention lists. The tournament is expected to be hosted across venues including Mumbai and Vadodara, with Varanasi being considered as a potential additional location.
