BCCI sets roadmap for 2027 ODI World Cup
BCCI secretary Devjyot Saikia said the board has begun a detailed roadmap for the ICC Men's ODI World Cup scheduled for October‑November 2027. The plan will give the Indian team ample 50‑over match practice, involving selectors, support staff and the head coach. A three‑match ODI series in England from 14‑19 July has already been announced.
The 2027 tournament will be hosted jointly by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, expanding to 14 teams and featuring a two‑group format with a Super‑Six stage. South Africa and Zimbabwe qualify automatically as full members, while Namibia must pass a qualifier. BCCI aims to ensure India is well prepared for the event.
The roadmap was discussed in Guwahati and follows India's appearance in the 2023 World Cup final, signalling a continued focus on maintaining the team's competitiveness on the world stage.
