BCS Consultancy launches Power Infrastructure division for data centres

BCS Consultancy has launched a new Power Infrastructure division to address the increasing challenges of securing power for data centre developments. Formerly known as the Utilities team, the expanded division will focus on power strategy, policy, and delivery to help investors and operators overcome barriers to growth.

The move comes as rapid growth in digital infrastructure, driven by artificial intelligence and power-intensive workloads, places unprecedented pressure on electricity networks. According to the company’s ‘Data Centre Truths 2026’ research, 93% of industry respondents expect demand to continue rising even as supply becomes more difficult to secure.

Led by Cameron Thompson, the division aims to assist clients from early-stage strategy through to construction, addressing issues such as grid connection timelines, planning constraints, and infrastructure delivery requirements. The shift reflects a change in client demand, moving from simple substation delivery toward upstream power strategy to ensure sites can be powered within commercially viable timeframes.
