BDI alleges discrimination in North Macedonia sports scholarships

The Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) has raised concerns regarding the distribution of ‘Shpresë Sportive’ sports scholarships in North Macedonia, alleging ethnic discrimination and a lack of transparency.

According to data released by the Ministry of Sport, out of 506 total scholarship recipients, 465 are Macedonians (91.90%), 38 are Albanians (7.51%), and three are Bosniaks (0.59%). BDI argues that this disproportion contradicts government claims of equality and demands that the Ministry clarify the selection criteria, scoring, and evaluation process.

The opposition party also criticized its coalition partner, VLEN, for remaining silent on the matter, questioning whether the current distribution aligns with their promises of fair representation and equality.
