BDI condemns migrant treatment at Tabanoc border crossing

The BDI has issued a statement condemning the treatment of migrants at the Tabanoc border crossing. The party described images of migrants waiting in harsh conditions and sweltering temperatures as unacceptable and distressing.

BDI emphasized that migrants, who have contributed significantly to the national economy, deserve respect and dignity rather than humiliating procedures. While the party does not contest the enforcement of laws or legal fines, it argues that law enforcement should not result in inhuman treatment.

The statement holds the VLEN party, as a member of the government, responsible for how citizens are treated by state institutions. BDI has called upon the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other responsible institutions to take immediate measures to ensure efficient procedures and end the current conditions.
