BDI criticizes rising intercity transport costs in North Macedonia

The Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) has criticized the rising costs of intercity transport in North Macedonia, stating that the increase directly impacts students and daily commuters.

Using the Tetovo–Skopje line as an example, the party noted that ticket prices have risen from 200 to 250 denars, representing a 25 percent increase per trip. According to BDI, monthly transport expenses for frequent travelers have risen from approximately 5,500 to 6,500 denars, placing additional pressure on family budgets.

The party is calling on competent institutions to provide a public explanation for these price hikes and to implement measures to protect vulnerable groups, specifically students and workers who rely on intercity transit.
