BDI disputes judicial comparisons as Zajkova calls for EU action

The BDI has criticized Macedonian political parties for attempting to equate the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) with the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo. The BDI argues that these are distinct institutions; while the ICTY was a UN Security Council-established international tribunal, the Specialized Chambers are part of the Kosovo judicial system established through constitutional changes and local law.

In a separate political development in Sofia, LDP leader and MP Monika Zajkova called for concrete actions rather than rhetoric regarding North Macedonia’s European Union accession. Responding to statements from MEP Andrej Kovačev, Zajkova emphasized that after two decades of promises, the Western Balkans require tangible progress and results from reforms rather than further declarations of intent. She urged regional neighbors to move past political blocking and focus on mutual success to strengthen European security.
