BDI leader Ali Ahmeti discusses Kosovo Specialist Chambers decision
Ali Ahmeti, leader of the Democratic Union for Integration (BDI), held a meeting of the party's Central Presidency to discuss current political developments and organizational strengthening. A primary focus of the discussion was the September 16, 2026, decision by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague regarding former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
The BDI leadership criticized the judicial process, stating that the Special Court was established based on the Dick Marty report and allegations of organ trafficking that they claim have not been proven through years of investigation. They characterized the legal proceedings against Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli, and Rexhep Selimi as a “staged judicial process” lacking factual basis.
The party emphasized that the KLA's struggle was for the liberation of Kosovo and argued that this history should not be judged by such proceedings. Additionally, the BDI supported the right to peaceful protest, describing recent demonstrations following the verdict as a legitimate form of civic expression in a democratic society.
