BDKV calls for regulation of ticket secondary market

The German Association of the Concert and Event Industry (BDKV) is calling on the Federal Ministry of Justice to regulate the commercial ticket secondary market. The association highlights extreme price markups, noting that tickets for Oasis concerts in Munich for July 2027 were listed on Viagogo for up to 1,832 euros, despite official prices ranging between 96.25 and 268.75 euros.

BDKV Managing Director Johannes Everke stated that the issue extends beyond stadium tours to grassroots events. For example, tickets for the sing-along organizer RUDELSINGEN in Berlin were reportedly offered on the secondary market for 373 euros, a 1,515 percent markup over the original 23.10 euro price.

The BDKV aligns its concerns with the European FEAT Alliance, warning that professional resellers dominate the market and pose risks to fans, including the potential for counterfeit or invalid tickets. Similar patterns have been observed in the UK, where a FanFair Alliance study found that over 75 percent of tickets at certain Manchester venues were controlled by just three commercial resellers.
