BDZ rejects request for new train stops in Pavlikeni
BDZ Passenger Transport has rejected a request from the Pavlikeni Municipality to include stops for six new trains at the Pavlikeni station. The rejected services include two new fast trains on the Sofia-Burgas route and four new express trains on the Sofia-Varna route.
Pavlikeni Mayor Emmanuil Manolov stated that the decision was made despite an official position from the local administration and a petition signed by over 1,600 residents. While the municipality acknowledges the need for faster connections between major cities, Manolov argued that this should not come at the expense of accessibility for smaller municipalities.
The new railway schedule, set to take effect on December 13, 2026, for the 2026/2027 period, includes new direct connections such as the Sofia-Pleven-Shumen-Burgas route, but will not accommodate the requested stops in Pavlikeni.
